Chipotle Burritos and Cheesecake: Oh What a Pair

Let me just start off by saying there is no Chipotle in Missoula. We both have not eaten there since living in Chicago, and while driving to red lobster we passed one and instantly knew we needed to eat it the next day. We woke up and shortly after letting the dogs out, and headed to Chipotle.  I ended up getting a chicken fajita burrito and Colleen got a barbacoa burrito bowl. We also grabbed some chips and guacamole to eat on the side. The food was exactly how we remembered, so delicious. After devouring our burritos we decided to head to Panino Sandwich and Bakery in Golden, CO again to get some more cheesecake. The last time we were there we forgot to use our golden ticket, which we got from the Coors brewery tour and have a chance to win money or a percent off at a local restaurant. This time we remembered though. Instead of getting the mini rectangle cheesecakes, we decided to try the circle premium cheesecakes and Colleen wanted a coffee. With our golden ticket in hand we scratched and it won $10! We were pretty excited cause of course no one ever wins those things. We ended up getting all the cheesecake and coffee for around $6. Dolla dolla bills ya’ll.

Buffalo, Cow, and Elk Burgers Oh My!

My Aunt Mary suggested that Colleen and I drive up to Estes Park, Co because this was Colleen’s first time in the state. They were not leaving until the next day; so we didn’t have to worry about the dogs being alone yet. So of course after we arrived to Estes Park we were hungry. While walking down the main street we decided on Wapiti Restaurant & Pub. While looking at the menu I noticed that they had elk and buffalo burgers as well as the regular beef, so of course I wanted to try one. After debating the two and talking to the waitress about them Colleen and I decided on an elk burger to split. After Colleen finished telling me about the tiny strange bathroom she just used, our food arrived. We both really liked the elk and enjoyed it. After lunch we headed over to the Rocky Mountain National Park to do some sightseeing and a little hiking. It was beautiful and Colleen was amazed. Needless to say I can not wait to have elk again.

We Came For the Panini, But Stayed For the Cheesecake

Today we were hanging out with my sister, Michaele, and her friend Annabell. We went on a hike by the river between Evergreen and The Red Rocks. We dropped them off at Annabell’s school to hang out for a little while, and Colleen and I went to Golden, CO in search for some food to eat. After looking around to find somewhere good to eat for quite some time we finally decided on Paninos Sandwich and Bakery. We walked in and started looking at the menu. They have a tasty sounding breakfast menu, but we both wanted something more lunch like. After another lifetime standing there we both decided on the din don. The only difference was Colleen got some balsamic vinegar on hers as well. While waiting for our paninis to come out, we grabbed othello and started playing. They had so many other board games too. We were in a heated battle and then our food was ready. The paninis were nice and hot, and looked delicious. We bit in and could not stop. The bread was so good, as well as the panini as a whole. After finishing our paninis we grabbed some cheesecake to go. We walked back to the car and devoured them before going back to pick up my sister. The cheesecake was unbelievable. Colleen has dreams about them to this day. They were bite size, cold, moist, and delicious. After devouring them we knew we’d be back again to try more.

Iron Horse: That Funky Brass Donkey

Yesterday I got five fillings in my teeth and hardly ate anything afterwards. Wanting some tasty food real bad with my now not numb mouth, we headed to Missoulas Iron Horse. We’ve eaten here a couple of times before. I’ve had their burgers but today it was time to try the house special, the Tender 501. We started off with the tomato basil quesadillas with steak for an appetizer. They were some of the best dillas we’ve had. Almost right after we started to eat them our food arrived. We were presented with a feast. I couldn’t wait and promptly cut a piece off so I could chew it (my teeth were still in pain.) I instantly regretted not ordering this earlier. The steak and grilled onions were perfect not to mention the sauce, which tasted similar to the blooming onion sauce from outback. Even though my teeth were in pain I didn’t care and just cut smaller pieces. I had the spicy fries with mine and colleen had the side salad. Needless to say I can not wait to consume that again.

Taga what? Tagliare Delicatessen!

Taga what? Tagliare Delicatessen!

Tagliare Delicatessen was the first sandwich shop I ate at in Missoula. After a long time our paths crossed again. It’s a real nice small shop off the Higgins roundabout where all the sandwiches are named after classic rock bands. We ordered our sandwiches and browsed what pasta, wine, and cheese knickknacks they had while waiting. I ordered the doobie brother sandwich on the baguette and Colleen had the cheap trick on rye. We had them to go and started digging in right when we got home. The price at the shop is always intimidating, but when you open up the sandwiches you understand. They each are easily two sandwiches in one!
