Buffalo, Cow, and Elk Burgers Oh My!

My Aunt Mary suggested that Colleen and I drive up to Estes Park, Co because this was Colleen’s first time in the state. They were not leaving until the next day; so we didn’t have to worry about the dogs being alone yet. So of course after we arrived to Estes Park we were hungry. While walking down the main street we decided on Wapiti Restaurant & Pub. While looking at the menu I noticed that they had elk and buffalo burgers as well as the regular beef, so of course I wanted to try one. After debating the two and talking to the waitress about them Colleen and I decided on an elk burger to split. After Colleen finished telling me about the tiny strange bathroom she just used, our food arrived. We both really liked the elk and enjoyed it. After lunch we headed over to the Rocky Mountain National Park to do some sightseeing and a little hiking. It was beautiful and Colleen was amazed. Needless to say I can not wait to have elk again.

A Burger Panic at Cactus Jack’s

We were talking about what we could have for dinner and decided burgers. It was getting pretty late and everyone was tired and hungry. Our original plan was to grill up some burgers at Bob and Mary’s place. Since it was so late we ended up driving down to Evergreen, Co to eat at Cactus Jack’s Saloon, rumored to be the choice of dining when Johnny Depp is in town. We sat at a table and started trying to figure out what appetizers to get, because we were starving. We ended up ordering jalapeno bottlecaps, cheese curds, and some onion rings. The bar is a Widespread Panic themed bar; including the name of the burgers. There were so many to choose from. It took us some time to figure out what to have but finally everyone was ready. I ended up getting the crazy burger and customized it a little. It had salsa, gaucamole, jalapeno bottlecaps, and pepperjack cheese on it in the end. Colleen decided on the vacation burger. It had her favorite, mushrooms, swiss, lettuce, tomato, and onion on it. The only other burger I remember was Bob got one with gyro meat on it. Everyone enjoyed their burgers and agreed we were stuffed. We finally packed up our bags and headed to bed without any ripples in our stomachs.

Boycott is Lifted, Giving Outback a Second Chance

After not eating at outback for too long, for separate reasons, we both decided to dine at the nearest one. Colleen had been on a boycott of outback for quite some time. The last experience she had did not taste right to her. It was all wrong, and not how she had remembered the great taste tasting. So after a long time we finally came back. We went and got our classic meals. Colleen had a outback special steak, and I ate the bloomin onion burger with cheesy fries. It was delicious, Colleen had seen the light again. We definitely will be back back to the outback!
